The Element Girl
Icy fingers gripped my arm in the darkness. A cloth went over my nose and pulled me in to the dark.
I wake up. Gasping for air. I can’t breathe. Why can’t I breathe? I run my hands through my hair. I can’t think straight. I decide to feel my face. There’s no cloth or anything covering my face. Then, why can’t I breathe? I start to panic.
A shadow walks towards me. I feel tears bite my eyes. This is it. This is my death. I say my goodbyes to everyone I know quietly.
“Ah, the little element.” A female voice says
“How do you know me?” I ask, trying to hide the tremble in my voice.
“Oh please, we all know you.” The lady steps out of the shadow revealing herself. Her black hair is tied up in a bun. She’s wearing a blood red dress. It looks like a gown.
“Who are you?” I press
“I am Lady Shadow. I am blocking all the light so you may not see where you are Mia. As you know, you cannot breathe, yet you can speak? How? Well, because of this device I am holding.” The device looks like a plain silver circle with runes all over it.
“Let me breathe.” I say. I feel faint but I still stand up facing her.
“Only if you tell me what you were hiding.”
“I don’t know anything!” I exclaim. “They never told me anything! Just ‘do this’ and ‘do that’! I wasn’t part of anything they were trying to keep secret.”
“You were part of something though.” I look at her in confusion. “You were part of the whole thing. This is why you have fire. This is why you have water. This is why you have wind. This is why you have Earth. This is why you have all of the elements inside of you. You can control them. Yet, you only know how to control fire and water. But you will learn. Once you agree and help us. And then you may breathe.” Lady Shadow says
“Ok! I will help! Just let me breathe before I die and I won’t be able to help!” I beg
“Yes of course.” Lady Shadow shook the circle and I could breathe again. “Now, we will have to drug you again, so you don’t know the way.”
I glare at Lady Shadow. “Fine.” I say. She puts a cloth on my face and I breathe in. The sedatives take over me and I fall back into darkness.
